Margaretta Superintendent

Superintendant, Margaretta Local SchoolsThe Margaretta Local School District serves just under 1,400 students in grades K-12. It encompasses an area of 144 square miles, and is a part of the North Point ESC seven school consortium focused on improving students’ academic performance through a program with several Ohio Universities and the National Center for Effective Schools. The district is focused toward helping students grow and develop so they can achieve their goals and personal potential.

The district’s educational program is aligned to meet state standards of excellence, yet flexible enough to address the individual needs of students. The system employs a variety of techniques and approaches to ensure the students are mastering the skills expected of them. We have also committed to compiling, interpreting, and analyzing data to best evaluate student performance and areas to remediate for improved student achievement. Margaretta provides this education in two facilities. The Elementary building houses grades K-6 with a county pre-school unit in the building as well. The High School building provides instruction to students in grades 7-12.

The educational foundation for Margaretta’s students is laid in place at the elementary level. Margaretta was a leader in implementing all day every day kindergarten program eight years ago. Mastery of the basics in mathematics, reading, writing, science, and social studies are expected of all elementary students. Classes in art, music, physical education, library and computer lab comprise the remainder of the regular curriculum.

The high school/junior high focuses on preparing students for life and education or training beyond the high school diploma. Curriculum includes core subjects, the arts, and vocational offerings. Students choose their fields of study according to their career goals, interests, and abilities. Post secondary options are available and vocational programs are offered on site and at the Ehove Career Center. Sports, clubs, and other extra curricular activities provide a well-rounded program offering for all students.

Margaretta Local School District is located in north central Ohio along the scenic shores of Lake Erie. Just minutes away from Cedar Point amusement park and the Lake Erie Islands offers a multitude of activities for everyone. Margaretta School District is one hour away from Toledo and Cleveland and 2 hours from Columbus. This location affords residents the benefits of living in a small town and yet having access to major city attractions. For this reason, my wife and I decided to raise our 5 children in this school district. This is truly a great place to raise a family and live!
