Margaretta Superintendent

Superintendant, Margaretta Local SchoolsThe Margaretta Local School District serves just over 1,200 students in grades K-12. We are a part of the Ohio Improvement Process (OIP), and are participating in the Race to the Top (RttT) initiatives for staff development. The district is focused toward helping students grow and develop so they can achieve their goals and reach personal potential.

The district’s educational program is aligned to meet state standards of excellence, yet flexible enough to address the individual needs of students. Using a variety of techniques and approaches to ensure the students are mastering skills expected of them. We have also committed to compiling, interpreting, and analyzing data to best evaluate student performance and areas to remediate for improved student achievement. Results on the Local Report Card (LRC) indicate that Margaretta Local Schools is rated EXCELLENT as a district, and Margaretta Elementary is rated EXCELLENT with DISTINCTION. We are proud of our administration, faculty, staff, students, and community for their combined efforts in reaching an EXCELLENT rating! Congratulations!

Margaretta provides our educational programs in two facilities. Our Elementary building houses K-5 students with a county pre-school unit serving Margaretta pre-schoolers. The High School serves student in grades 6-12 with our middle school serving 6-8, and the High School serving 9-12. The educational foundation for Margaretta students is laid in place at the elementary level. Margaretta was a leader in the area in implementing all day every day kindergarten program 10 years ago. Mastery of the basics in mathematics, reading, writing, science, & social studies are expected of all elementary students. Classes in art, music, physical education, library, and computer lab comprise the remainder of the regular curriculum.

The High School/Middle school focuses on preparing students for life and education or training beyond the high school diploma. Curriculum includes core subjects, the arts, and vocational offerings. Students choose their fields of study according to their career goals, interest, and abilities. Post secondary options are available and vocational programs are offered on site and at the Ehove Career Center. Sports, clubs, and other extra curricular activities provide a well-rounded program offering for all students.

Margaretta Local School District is located in North Central Ohio along the shores of Lake Erie. Just minutes away from Cedar Point amusement park and the Lake Erie Islands offers a multitude of activities for everyone. Margaretta Local School District is one hour away from both Toledo & Cleveland and two hours from Columbus. The location affords residents the benefits of living in a small town or rural setting and yet having access to major city attractions. For this reason, my wife & I decided to raise our 5 children in this school district. This is truly a great place to live and raise a family!
