Margaretta Local Schools has worked with the Thomas B. Fordham Institute to demonstrate how the science of reading has been put into practice in our district. Superintendent Ed Kurt initiated the work towards improving literacy when he returned to MLSD in 2020. The results are emerging and showing a positive trend due to the efforts of our teachers and literacy coaches. State approved curriculums have been implemented in classroom lesson plans and teachers have now had the ability to put their training through at least one full year of teaching their students. Staff continues to learn about practices to improve reading and literacy skills.
